YOUR PAST DOES NOT DETERMINE YOUR FUTURE

We all have a past,some as ugly as rags but I tell you,your past does not determine your future.Why am I so sure? I have seen prostitutes get married and stay happily thereafter without their past haunting them,I have seen poor people experience wealth at short notice and I have seen rich people go bankrupt within days.So,get it into your sytem that your past does not determine your future.Your past, no matter how messed up your circumstances are, are NOT the determining factors that will decide your destiny. You and only you alone have the power to change your destiny no matter what your circumstances are.According to Pastor Sam Adeyemi,'decision determines destiny(DDD).' Your decision is what will determine your future,your past has absolutely no role to play in it.

So,what was your past like? From a poor home and you have been conditioned not to expect any extraordinary success? You were deeply into drinking,smoking and other social vices in the past and you think you can never overcome these habits? You were deeply into womanising ,as a result,your marriage is almost over? Your take-home pay never took you home and so you resorted to stealing? You were once divorced and you don't want to have another go at the marital institution because of the fear of failing once again? I can go on but whatever happened in your past can not determine your future.Start accepting responsibility for whatever happens in your life from today and I tell you,you'll be glad you did! By shifting your responsibility and blaming others, you are only giving yourself excuses instead of being responsible for your own success.

So,how do you ensure you have a glorious future despite your ugly past?

Step No 1-Forget about the past.I know it's not easy but you've got to forget the past.If someone had wronged you in the past and you are still holding onto the grudge,am sorry you won't be able to move forward.Forgive and forget because your past does not have any place in the success equation.The Holy Bible even corroborates this in Phillipians 3:13 which says 'Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before...'

Step No 2-Raise your standard-For most of us that were raised in poor homes,our standards are usually low,infact,most of us have inferiority complex but for you to make your past a thing of the past,you need to raise your standards.Set high but attainable goals for yourself.Let your goals be SMART.

Realistic

Timely

Step No 3-Get rid of all limiting beliefs.Take charge of your mind and attitude.Always have a positive attitude and question anything that happens to you.Don't take things on face value.Stop what the environment is telling you,control your environment with the power within you.When you were growing,your mother told you you should just aim to make little money to sustain yourself and that anyone who aspired to be very rich in your family died at a young age.Please get rid of that limiting belief.You can be rich and I say that without fear or favour.

Step No 4-Change your strategy.According to a Chinese Proverb,'Insanity is doing the same thing in the same way, expecting a different result.' So,if you have been aiming to break from your past through a particular strategy and you find it's not working,please change your strategy.At every point in time while on the journey to break away from your past,please do progress assessment and see how things are going.If they are not going as planned,please change your strategy.Even though I know this journey's gonna be a toughie,I also know you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you,so,don't entertain any fears,you will succeed! YOU and not anyone else WILL successfully break away from your past because your past does not determine your future. Period!
